Plagued by dwindling funds and other financial ills, Stockton Unified School District (SUSD) is turning to its alumni for help.
Spearheaded by the former SUSD Chief of Staff, Matthew George, the “1852 Foundation” is building a database of SUSD graduates, friends and all others who can be deemed the District’s “family”
“Our intention is to have an introductory letter prepared for distribution to the community,” said George, “to make them aware of the 1852 Foundation and the role the Superintendent has asked the Foundation to fill in supporting students, programs and the educational goals of the district.”
The district is in the process of connecting with various philanthropic groups to make them aware of the 1852 Foundation and SUSD and the tremendous challenges that exist for the students in this current economic crisis. “We are excited about what we as a community can do for our children,” concluded George, “and the Superintendent has asked that the 1852 Foundation be one of those conduits where the community can come together collectively to support our children and begin to build a better future for them and Stockton.”
