Comerciantes Unidos (CU), Stockton’s Spanish-Speaking merchants’ association, is going forward … resorting to the old.
On Thursday, September 2, 2010, during the association’s monthly general meeting at Cancun Restaurant in downtown Stockton the members elected deli owner and CU co-founder Jesus Villalvazo as their 2011-12 President. Restaurateur Juan Ruvalcaba, the founding treasurer, was selected Vice president; and CU’s first president, bookkeeper Yolanda Flores, was elected Secretary.
Comerciantes Unidos was started in 1997 as an informal group under the auspices of then San Joaquin County Supervisor Steven Gutierrez. A year later, the group formalized the membership, growing to be the largest and most influential Spanish Speaking business organization in the county.
The inauguration ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the Stockton Hilton Hotel. For more information call (209) 547-0320 (209) 547-0320 .
