Stockton Symphony with Guest Conductor Franco

The concert was celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and the 200th Anniversary of Mexican Independence. “We are going to tour with the most beloved songs of the Americas,” said Maestro Franco, immediately following his first “Guadalajara” number. The overflowing audience enthusiastically applauded the hour-long performance which included Mexicano, Danzón No. 2″ by Arturo Márquez, and some of the best known songs from Latin America including Brazil, La Cumparsita, El Cóndor Pasa, El Cumbanchero, and Granada.
Raoul Mora retired teacher and active member of the Mexican Heritage Center encouraged the symphony to expand its Latino repertoire, “We hope the Stockton Symphony continues to do Latin/Mexican music in the future.” Maria Sanchez appreciated Franco stating, “The music transported me back to my native Mexico.”
The Stockton Symphony continues its Hispanic celebration showcasing Violinist Elena Urioste, of Mexican-Basque heritage, at the September 23rd and 25th concerts.
