Janet Rivera, Vice President of the San Joaquin Delta College (SJDC) Board and Stockton Unified School District administrator was a recipient for one of the Family Resource and Referral Center’s awards under the category of Elected Official.The recognition came at the Center’s annual Action on Behalf of Children (ABC) Awards ceremony on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Elkhorn Country Club in North Stockton:
The FRRC provides advocacy, information, training and direct services on child care, child development, and family well-being in San Joaquin County.
The ABC Awards are presented “to those outstanding individual child care providers, elected officials, businesses, and media in the community that are doing more than just ‘the average’ for children,” says the award’s description.
Rivera was recognized for her work as a board member of San Joaquin Delta College where she has written successful grants that provided beneficial programs for students. She has served a SJDC Trustee since November 1994 and was re-elected in this month’s election.
