As it has happened for the last 21 years, on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, hundreds of Stocktonians braved the frosty evening, gathering around the stately fir tree gracing San Joaquin Delta College main entrance, to see it lit with more than 1,500 light bulbs, each in honor or memory of a loved one or colleague who has departed.
The Hospice of San Joaquin Tree of Lights —already a holiday tradition throughout the county— will remain lit for the entire holiday season. The names of honorees and donors are placed at the base of the Tree. Proceeds from this event and other Tree of Lights events help Hospice of San Joaquin to provide the highest level of care for terminally ill patients, as well as counseling for their families and the bereaved.
