MODESTO, CA – (January 13, 2011) – The Gallo Center for the Arts will be hosting the acclaimed Vienna Boys Choir on Sunday, February 13 at 7:00 p.m. Founded in 1498 by Emperor Maximilian I, this ensemble sang exclusively for the imperial court and private audiences until 1918. Today they are renowned for their diverse repertoire encompassing Austrian folk songs and waltzes, classical masterpieces, and contemporary pop songs.

The Vienna Boys Choir contains more than 100 choristers ages 10-14 who are divided into four touring choirs that perform to almost half a million people every year. The ensemble, known for their purity of tone and distinctive charm, has maintained their traditional imperial roots while developing a style all their own.
The Vienna Boys Choir has a rich history of collaborating with talented artists, from working with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, to performing a cappella arrangements of songs by The Beatles and Madonna.
