Rich colors, technique and a fine touch depict the traditions of Mexican Culture as expressed by award winning artist Jorge Elizalde’s Imagenes Vivas (Live Images)
Imagenes Vivas represent a selection of Elizalde’s recent works.
“This exhibit is a small representation of the cultural traditions of Mexico,” noted Elizalde. His pieces include traditions such as Day of the Dead, natural healing and popular traditions as in the case of the Lotería game (Mexican Bingo). “You will find my interpretations of known expressions” explained Elizalde. No soy Monedita de Oro (I am not a golden token) is one of the expressions the artist included among his pieces. The exhibit includes over 30 oil, acrylic, water color and sculpture pieces offering rich colors which mirror the traditional Mexican art and all its flair.
Jorge Elizalde is an award-winning artist. He received the Stockton Art League Award and Honorable Mention in the 37th Annual Unitarian Fall Art Festival in 1995. In 1996 Jorge was named Artist of the Year by the Musse Des Beaux Arts D’Unet in Paris. In 1997 he took a third place, and in 1998 a first and third at the San Joaquin County Fair, all for watercolors. Also, in 1998 he won an Award of Merit in the Northern California Arts Show at the Sacramento Fine Art Center. He again took a first award at the 2000 San Joaquin County Fair in acrylics. Jorge has exhibited in Mexico, California, Paris and Miami.
The show opens January 14th and runs through February 25th. An Artist Reception will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011, 6:30 pm.
The Mexican Heritage Center and Gallery is open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. Special tours and presentations are available upon request please call (209) 598-6525.
