STOCKTON, CA- Stockton Arena‘s Winter Wonderland a three-day public ice skating event from December 20 through December 22, brought more than 3050 people.
Participants interested in skating brought non-perishable food items for the Emergency Food Bank that discounted their entry. Portion’s the proceeds designated for the San Joaquin Women’s Center’s free, confidential services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
“Most of the skating sessions were sold out and thanks to the generosity of our patrons, we donated six barrels of food, which equates to roughly 712 meals for the needy in our community,” said Chuck Kemp, Stockton Arena General Manager. “We were also thrilled to present the Women’s Center with a $4,000 check. We look forward to continue growing this fantastic holiday event.”
“The Winter Wonderland event not only provided a unique opportunity for the community to skate at the arena, but it also helped many people in need. We are truly grateful to the Stockton Arena staff for selecting the Women’s Center to receive this generous gift,” said Joelle Gomez, Executive Director.
This was the third year that the Stockton Arena hosted Winter Wonderland. Previous charity recipients included the Transitional Learning Center and United Way.
