Washington, DC – Today, Senators Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, and Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Clean Air and Nuclear Safety Subcommittee, wrote to U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Chairman Gregory Jaczko to request that the NRC conduct a comprehensive investigation of all nuclear facilities in the United States to assess their capacity to withstand catastrophic natural or man-made disasters, in light of the nuclear disaster that continues to unfold in Japan.
