(bw) Stockton, CA -Lena Orr reached over with a pen in hand and signed her name into the paint of a pink fire truck on Thursday, May 19, 2011. “I work at the mall in Bath and Body Works and missed them at the Mall parking lot earlier; so, I decided to come over here to Safeway to support them,” said Orr.
Pink Heals, is a tour of pink fire trucks traveling the nation in support of women battling breast cancer. “We tour the country every year for three months in 40 pink fire trucks on the Pink Heals Tour,” explained Dave Graybill, the founder of the organization Pink Fire Trucks, “It’s like a carnival of love —we are imprinting this movement, Cares Enough to Wear Pink”
Dave Macedo of the East Stockton Firefighters Association supported the event as, “All the proceeds of this event will be matched by the Fire Fighters Association.”
This was the first time Pink Heals has visited the West coast which will continue its tour towards San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fairfield, Napa, Redding, and Oregon before finishing in Utah. “Selling tee shirts and raising money to help, gives me goosebumps,” Graybill concluded, “100% of the profit goes back to this community, into this economy, and supports the women in this community.”
