STOCKTON , CA— Drive west bound on Stockton’s Alpine Avenue; and you may come across a new mural adorning the east wall of TOCUMBO — a Latino ice cream shop.
The colorful 30’ x 15’ feet graffiti art style mural is the work of Milton Coronado, graffiti artist with 6-years experience in arts. Coronado was visiting from Chicago as part of a religious retreat and he partnered with business owner Gerardo Chavez to make the project a reality. “I’m in Stockton in a week of prayer as I belong to the 7th Day Adventist Church,” explained Coronado, “I’m here today as it’s important to bridge local businesses with their communities and to encourage positive messages in street art.”
The surreal graffiti style piece reflects Cloudy skies along with a combination of colorful waves; a child-like cartoon dressed in native Mexican clothing and a sombrero while surfing on an ice popsicle. On the back is a church like building and a message “Cool as Ice — Jesus Christ”.
Coronado shared that he does arts on canvas with oils and acrylics. “I am happy with his work and message,” explained Chavez as he admired the colorful mural.
