Modesto, CA — Mexican romantic group Los Dandys, along with La Sonora Santanera, will rally support for Jose Hernandez’s congressional race the evening of April 14th at the Modesto Banquet Hall.
The 1950s quartet, Los Dandys, was originally scheduled to perform at Stockton’s Chitivas Sports Bar and Grill and at La Comision Honorifica Mexicana’s, (Honorific Mexican Commission) banquet hall; both events were intended to raise funds for Hernandez’ campaign. However, “as we announced the event, we had an overwhelming response from the citizens of Stanislaus; we had to relocate the event,” noted Luis Godinez, business owner of Promociones 444 — a Latin music promotions group. Godinez added that joining Los Dandys will be La Sonora Santanera, a tropical music orchestra from Mexico —which also has a 50 year history.
Former National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Astronaut, Jose Hernandez, announced his candidacy for U.S. Congress on October 10, 2011. “We are happy that Luis Godinez and Promociones 444 are taking an initiative to support Jose’s campaign,” noted Jose Angel Picon, volunteer coordinator for Hernandez Campaign. “Luis is a great example of the support that our community has for Jose’s candidacy.”
“Jose [Hernandez] is a great person, with team work experience, knowledge, and is a product of our community; I have known him since high school. He will do a great job representing us in Washington,” added Godinez.
