Supervisor Carlos Villapudua announces his campaign for reelection for the first San Joaquin Supervisorial District.
STOCKTON – San Joaquin County Supervisor Carlos Villapudua announced his candidacy for re-election for the County Board of Supervisors 1st District on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.
County Board of Supervisors District 1 covers a large portion of south Stockton , areas in the County Club neighborhood, and French Camp.
“I am very grateful for the support I have received from my constituents over the past three years.” Said Villapudua as he explained that representing his district and the entire county, “has been a pleasure and an honor.”
Also vying for the 1st district is business owner Mark Stebbins. Stebbins is not a new name to the ballot; in 2008 he ran for Stockton City Council and in 2010 he ran for California Board of Equalization: he did not make it to either one of the two races
If reelected to his second term, Villapudua noted that, “I look forward to continuing the work I began in my first term: expanding the airport, making the County Hospital a thriving center of health care services within the county and a catalyst for job creation and growth, and, as always, making sure our streets and residents are safe.”
Both candidates are expected to run grass roots campaigns. “I hope to meet and talk with as many of my constituents as possible and to hear their concerns. It is most important for me to make every effort to ensure county government is as responsive to our community as possible.”
Villapudua is the owner of Cilantro’s Restaurant on Country Club Road. He is a product of Franklin High School and Sacramento State University. Prior to being County Supervisor, he worked as the Community Social Service Director of San Joaquin County’s Human Services Agency at the Northeast Community Center. Past work also includes Welfare-to-Work CalWORKs program, San Joaquin Sheriff’s Department, and Healthy Families.
Villapudua has been involved with several community organizations such as COMA’s Cinco de Mayo Parade, HEPPA, Rod and Gun Club, South Stockton Lions club, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) , Asparagus Festival and Comerciantes Unidos.
