Martinez to appointed by State Controller


SACRAMENTO, CA – State Controller John Chiang announced his appointment of Capitol veteran Julio Martinez to serve as the Controller’s Director of Legislative Affairs.

Martinez has served in various legislative positions since 2001. He most recently was Chief of Staff to Assembly Member Mike Eng (D-Monterey Park), where he was responsible for directing and developing the legislator’s communications, legislative, community outreach, and day-to-day operations.

From 2002 through 2006, Martinez served in positions ranging from field representative to Legislative Director to Acting Chief of Staff for former Assembly Member Judy Chu.  In 1999-2001, Martinez was the Citizenship Program Coordinator for One Stop Immigration and Educational Center in East Los Angeles.

Martinez received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1993 from California State University, Los Angeles, and his Master of Arts degree in Student Affairs Administration in 1997 from Michigan State University.
