JobsPAC mailer
California — As voters received their absentee ballots for the 2012 primary election, the California’s 13th Assembly District voters also received a negative campaign mailer by JobsPAC —a mailer that made Xochilt Raya Paredes reconsider her candidacy.
On the second week of May, JobsPAC a major PAC claiming to be “a bipartisan coalition of California Employers” mailed a “Vote NO on Xochitl Paredes” cardstock mailer. The mailer disclosed two filed liens by Stonewood Estates Homeowners Association and an auto payment issues. On May 23rd, Michael Fitzgeral columnist at Stockton’s daily newspaper The Record, reported that the, “PAC bombed Assembly candi-date Xochitl Paredes right out of the race this week using tried and true negative campaign tactics, with a new twist.”
“I am disgusted that Eggman’s supporters JobPAC would threaten to use my family and that Eggman would use it on flyers sent out this week [the week of May 21s].” noted Xochilt Paredes on a text message.
Susan Eggman clarifyed, “I have run a positive campaign, focused on the issues.” Eggman noted that she has a broad base of supporters and no affiliation to JobsPAC mailer.
Paredes asked to remind everyone that “when JobPACs attack working class candidates to support another candidate, we all lose! 99% of us don’t have the millions like the 1%.” Paredes shared that at this point her family is a priority thus she opt to stop out of the race.
While Paredes’has opted to pull out of the assembly race her name remains on the ballot. Along with Jennet Stebbins, K. “Jefferey” Jari, Dolores M. Cooper, and Susan Talamantes Eggman are vying for the post.
