The 2014 BMW M3 is the sportiest version of the 3 Series range is on sale from 86 500 euros and you can choose with manual or automatic transmission for the same price. It's a car that can go very fast and as good RWD sports it is difficult to drive harnessing the full potential of the engine. In fact it seems difficult to drive at the limit but there are few cars with resistant brake discs thinking users who want to put their new M3 circuit.

The body of functional M3 equals that of any other series 3 but is wider because the back flaps protruding from the rest of the body. Apart from the engine chassis and suspension the new M3 is distinguished from other versions of the 3 Series range by changes in the body mainly in the bumpers mirrors exhaust outlet and the discreet spoiler. In the cabin change the specifics of this model as the steering wheel gear knob selector gearshift cleats doors and console the dashboard and seats which hold well and are comfortable plus allow adjusting the lateral support and have the M illuminated logo.

The motor M3 architecture leaves 8 cylinders in V to switch to the inline 6-cylinder twin-turbo. This engine is not entirely new but is based on carrying the 335i suitably modified to give an impressive performance. Its capacity is 2979 cc and develops maximum output of 431 hp between 5390 and 7000 rpm the limit of the motor at 7600 rpm while. The maximum torque is 550 Nm between 1800 and 5390 rpm. Besides being more powerful is lighter than the previous version. No less than 85 kg lighter. To achieve this weight has been widely used BMW aluminum and reinforced plastic with carbon fiber called CFRP. For instance only in the roof have saved 5 kg when using a CFRP plate.

With all this the performance of the new M3 are much better. The acceleration of 0-100 km / h in 4.6 seconds passes to 4.1 seconds with automatic transmission and 4.3 seconds with the manual gearbox. Top speed is limited to 250 km / h but can increase to 280 km / h asking the optional "Driver" package that will disable the speed limit. With all this available power consumption may not be the cheapest in the world but in this kind of cars does not matter. Still the new M3 declares a fuel cosumo average only 8.8 l / 100 km with manual transmission and 8.3 l / 100 km with the automatic gearbox. These are data approval because at very economical rate we have not dropped 9.5 liter with automatic transmission. Yes in the circuit we get an average of 16 liters with ease.

But not only the acceleration is impressive in the new BMW M3 the brakes are up to the benefits of this sports sedan. Brakes are compound discs which means that the contact area of the pad with the disc is of steel and the disc holder to be aluminum which results in lower suspended mass and better cooling. Anyway BMW has thought of users who want to put their new M3 circuit and optionally be mounted brake discs made of ceramic material that are lighter stronger and last much longer. Logically they are much more expensive. To top the whole the BMW M3 can lead wheels 18 and 19 inches these optional fan with tires in different sizes and riding a width of 255 on the front and 275 rear axle Axle with Profile 35.

The BMW M3 we tested had the option brake silicon carbide reinforced with carbon fiber. Are much more resistant to heat than standard discs function of iron. The test unit had an automatic transmission with double clutch seven-speed. Besides this box has several programs selectable operating with "Drivelogic" button and the function of rapid exit from standstill "Launch Control" another called "Smokey Burnout" to burn the rear wheels in a quick exit or "Stability Clutch Control "which causes the clutch to limit torque delivery when the rear axle ahead if we want to have moved in a curve giving gas.

Not a particularly smooth change but we understand that in this type of car is not a problem. Yes it is an extremely rapid change but it does not seem to be much faster than the transmission Steptronic BMW.

The direction of riding the new BMW M3 is variable power assisted automatically with the speed but is also adjustable by the driver with three preset programs further regulate power delivery and even the setting of the suspension. These programs are: "COMFORT" "SPORT" and "SPORT +". The stability control has three operating modes connected intermediate (called "M Dynamic Mode") and disconnected.

As you can imagine circulating in circuit with this type of car is normal to see the electronic traction and stability controls run continuously especially when cornering even on dry roads as we have tested us. We seem to work well but sometimes leave too dead engine and penalizes out of corners. We were able to ride around with all controls to aid disabled driving and as you can imagine everything becomes more complicated when driving fast. The car becomes more demanding because the engine thrust is more violent and produces more abrupt reactions especially at corner exit when accelerating background. We can have an intermediate system which BMW calls MDM mode which allows us to move with stability control program "half" allowing us to have some control over the vehicle without having to completely disable aid.

In the BMW M3 the suspension is adjustable in three levels. Suspension is stiff uncomfortable but is not at least in the most comfortable way of the three. Is sufficiently comfortable sports simultaneously. Of course the hardest position can be up uncomfortable. It is only recommended circuit or asphalt in very good condition.

The engine of the BMW M3 is perhaps the most anticipated of this new generation element. Much talked of what a M3 turbo and if meet expectations compared to the previous V8. As the meets and exceeds. This 6-cylinder turbo online and immediately responds to the requirements of accelerator and always straight and full form of power delivering it without hesitation to about 7600 rpm when the injection cut occurs.
