An opportunity for Mexican Athletes in the U.S

Sacramento,CA- The General Mexican Consulate in Sacramento is offering athletes of Mexican origin living in Northern California the opportunity to compete in México and eventually have the option of pursuing a career in México. As in previous years, the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME) invites the Mexican community to participate in the National Olympiad 2012, organized by the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE) of México, to be held in May and June this year. Those interested in participating in any of the 32 disciplines that shape the competition must apply at the Consulate and submit the registration form and additional requirements before March 23, 2012.

Dr. Sylvia Ulmer recognized at Susan B. Anthony Awards

The 2012 Susan B. Anthony awards recognized the talent and dedication of ten women in San Joaquin County in a ceremony held at the Stockton Golf and Country Club on Thursday February, 16.

The San Joaquin County Commission on the Status of Women created the Susan B. Anthony Women Awards 36 years ago to honor women’s achievements.

Dr. Silvia Ulmer,Director of Elementary Education at Stockton Unified School District.

Among the recipients of the 2012 award is Dr. Sylvia Ulmer, Director of Elementary Education at Stockton Unified School District (SUSD).  Born in El Salvador, Ulmer came to the United State at the age16 years old and worked alongside her family, harvesting the crops of the region.
