Finally we have among us the renewal of half life of the BMW 1 Series F20. The changes come from the hand of a refreshed exterior which seeks to resemble the Series 2 as well as incorporating two drive turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder shared with the new MINI.

One of the less flashy BMW range is undoubtedly the Series 1. Never had an extremely graceful design against their brethren though bone is an excellent product especially for those who seek a compact rear-wheel drive hatch something so far no one else has been able to offer.

To kick-start the second half of the life of this generation called F20 is that BMW 1 Series LCI presented to (or Life Cycle Impulse) to continue to give battle to popular rivals like the Audi A3 / A3 Sportback or Mercedes-Benz A-Class and others who "are less" like the Alfa Giulietta or Volvo V40 to name a few.

The recipe for this restyling is the classic we know from other pages for whitewash to a product that accuses few years in a portfolio of a brand although in the case of series 1 but did not seem as outdated yes afflicted him less attractive than a Class A or a Giulietta for example.

All 1 Series now includes a new typical BMW kidney grille air intakes larger and more planar geometry headlamps come standard LED daytime running lights and for the first time can be purchased at full version of LEDs.

No major changes laterally beyond a new catalog alloy wheels while the posterior is where you can see more clearly the changes now taking the L-shaped optical assemblies (with LEDs) own models BMW.

In the interior changes are not as noticeable although the brand claims to have improved the materials used in its construction. New commands for automatic air conditioning and sound system plus the second part of the recipe restylings ie new range of upholstery inserts and color combinations for the interior appear. In turn change the names of equipment being now the Advantage dashboard variants Sport Line Urban Line and M Sport.

The equipment also suffers improvements by incorporating an extended range of BMW ConnectedDrive functions (also display increased from 6.5 to 8.8 inches) such as smart emergency call and by BMW Teleservice incorporated SIM card while there are some optional systems such as active Cruise Control with Stop & go support for assisted parking etc.

The range of engines for the BMW 1 Series will consist of five gasoline engines and five diesel all with the TwinPowerTurbo technology and all under compliance with Euro 6 emissions standard.

In the case of gasoline engines the most important novelty is the arrival of three-cylinder 1.5-liter 109 horsepower and 180 Nm of torque for the 116i which borrows the new MINI Cooper. It can be associated with manual six-speed transmission Steptronic automatic or eight. The second development is the increased power for the M135i now 5 hp plus reaching 326.

Turning to the gasoleros the offer is renewed with the 116d which adds another three-cylinder 116 hp 1.5 TwinPowerTurbo. Additionally be offered in option permanante xDrive AWD for models 120d 118d and M135i.
