It has been over a year since Volkswagen surprise them all out presenting the prototype Golf R400 a project for which the German brand always believed in positive and that from the outset it claimed as a more viable project for marketing in markets as the European or Spanish. By then it was speculation that the Golf R400 had given the green light but it was not until recently that Volkswagen has officially confirmed.

With this data in hand it is logical that have just been a few weeks and already let see several prototype test by Germany and by the 'Ring. It was confirmed that the Golf R400 Street be even more potent than the prototype approaching 420 hp and with a similar Audi RS3 Sportback for example reliability. To equate reliability Volkswagen will not install the 2.0-liter TFSI 4-cylinder carrying the prototype and instead will place the already well known 5-cylinder 2.5 liter engine which incidentally is the same as the the RS3 Sportback. This fact is also confirmed after they have been few assistants to the days of open testing at the Nurburgring who have confirmed the extraordinary similarity in sound between the Golf R400 testing and RS3.

All-wheel drive and an engine with proven reliability

On more than one occasion we talked about the tremendous possibilities that exist around the next Audi RS3 Sportback have an 4-cylinder engine and 2.0 liters into a rather distant future and when overcome the barrier of 400 horses there is reason to be concerned about reliability. Until that time comes or perhaps the Golf R400 R420- records times and sprayed with a 5-cylinder Audi still has a lot to say. This engine will be accompanied in the German hatchback total 4MOTION and DSG gearbox.

Volkswagen will introduce major changes to the chassis in front of the Golf R with more than enough reasons for the difference in power between the two is closer to 120 horses. The Golf R420 will feature larger diameter brakes and suspension nearest circuit. The aerodynamic kit will also be different and items such as nozzles are larger and more prominent.

The net price is less than 50000 euros

Speaking of prices the Golf R420 will be between the Golf R and the Audi RS3 Sportback costing nearly 40 billion euros the first and almost 60 000 euros the second both with the most basic equipment possible. We do not expect that costs more than 50 billion euros a figure that seems optimal if we consider that there will be a limited edition but also selling versions of Golf. It is rather a matter of performance those seeking to reach more than a Golf R or a Ford Focus RS without paying so great between them and the Audi RS3 367 horses for example difference.
